Performance Technologies' suite of WAN protocols provides all of the critical pieces required to quickly and efficiently develop WAN protocol applications. A complete suite of WAN protocols, a family of high performance WAN controllers and servers, and comprehensive operating system support, provides a complete solution for WAN applications.

All Performance Technologies WAN protocols adhere to a common application programming interface (API) which runs on the host system, and an onboard kernel, xSTRa (Executive for STREAMS Applications), which operates on our WAN communications hardware.

This software architecture ensures customer investments made in developing WAN applications will be fully portable across industry-standard hardware bus architectures and operating systems. This portability represents a significant reduction in WAN application development efforts, system integration costs and time to market.

Onboard Real Time Executive

xSTRa (Executive for STREAMS Applications), our onboard real time executive for STREAMS applications, manages the operating environment of our WAN communications controllers or WAN/LAN communications servers. It provides a standard interface that enables modular, portable development of WAN protocol applications.

xSTRa's powerful feature set also allows the execution of one or more protocols on any of the Performance Technologies WAN Target Platforms.

Consistent Client API

All Performance Technologies protocols include a simple, easy to use Application Programming Interface (API) which runs on all our WAN communications controllers or WAN/LAN communications servers. The API provides a standard interface to the TCP/IP software or host driver. This makes application programs easily portable among client operating systems and hardware platforms.

ProtoKit™ Development Environment

ProtoKit is our STREAMS-based protocol development package which provides the foundation for efficient development of customer specific protocol stacks.

ProtoKit provides a complete software development environment, including real time kernel, software development tools (C compiler, assembler, linker, utilities and a source-level debugger), sample client applications, and serial device drivers for synchronous communications.

A Comprehensive Protocol Suite

X.25

Our X.25 protocol software is a STREAMS-based implementation of the X.25 protocol suite which conforms to ITU-T (¡¥80, ¡¥84, and ¡¥88), and ISO specifications. It meets the approval requirements for the European Telecom Standard NET2 for connecting a DTE to an X.25(84) PSDN, and the joint US standard FIPS 100/Federal Standard 1041 for the DTE/DCE interface. Comprehensive configuration mechanisms allow the software to be tailored for operation on numerous Public Data Networks (PDN).

Frame Relay

Our Frame Relay is a portable, STREAMS-based product. It has been designed to conform to ITU-T and ANSI specifications and the FRF implementation agreements for the Frame Relay Bearer Service. Our Frame Relay supports Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) and Switched Virtual Circuits (SVCs), and its Layer 2 (DL-CORE) conforms to Q.922 and T1.618. The product supports the DLPI standard interface and has a local management interface.

HDLC

For the transmission and reception of HDLC/SDLC data frames with frame-level control, zero bit insertion/deletion, CRC generation and checking, and abort detection. Includes LAPD, ABM/LAPB (Asynchronous Balanced Mode), and NRM (Normal Response Mode).

Radar Receiver/SBSI

Our Radar Receiver protocol is used for communication with military and civil aviation radar systems. The product recognizes a number of popular radar data formats including CD-2, FPS 117, Marconi 10-Bit, ASTERIX, Thompson-CSF, NEC, Toshiba, Westinghouse TPS-43, and Modified Eurocontrol. Synchronous Bit Stream InterfaceTransmits and receives a continuous bit stream with no synchronization signal required.
