VMOD-IO

Description

 

The VMOD-IO is a VMEbus-compatible carrier for up to four MODULbus mezzanine boards. Even if it

is equipped with all four modules, only one slot in the VME system is needed. Using the VMOD-IO the

system integrator is able to build up VME systems with most flexible configurations for needs in

industrial environment.

 

Every MODULbus socket has a 512byte address space and can be selected as byte-device or as

word-device. For integration in complex VMEbus system environments the VMOD-IO can be

programmed as Short-I/O or Standard memory device. The allocated address range is 2048 bytes.

The basic address of the board is set by using two hex code-switches in the short address range and

four hex code-switches in the standard address range. The VMOD-IO decodes the specified address

modifiers for user- and system- Short accesses with AM-codes 29h and 2Dh and User/System

Standard accesses with AM-codes 39h and3Dh.

 

The mezzanine modules are able to cause a modified vectored interrupt to the VMEbus via the carrier

board with selectable level and configurable vector. The vector holds information about the causing

module in its 4 LSB's.

 

The VMOD-IO/E version is fitted with a DC/DC converter which is needed when analog I/O modules

are used. The DC/DC converter decouples the 15V analog power supply from the logic devices and

offers a maximum current of 150mA.

VMEbus 3 U Carrier for MODULbus mezzanine concept



Description


The VMOD-3U is a VMEbus-compatible carrier board for one plug-in module with

 MODULbus-interface. With use of the VMOD-3U the system integrator is able to build up

 VME-systems with flexible configurations for needs in industrial environment.



The VMOD-3U carrier board can be equipped with one MODULbus I/O-module, an international

standard for mezzanine I/O. The MODULbus socket has a 512byte address space and can be

selected as byte-device or as word-device.



For integration in complex VMEbus-systems the VMOD-3U can be used within the Short-I/O address

space or within the Standard memory address space. The plug-in module is able to generate a

vectored interrupt to the VMEbus via the carrier board with selectable level and programmable vector.



Two versions are available from the VMOD-3U. The -/S version is the standart version for digital I/O etc.

For analog I/O functionality, the -/E version should be selected. This version offers an on-boards

DC/DC converter to supply the module socket with +/- 15V enabling the ADC and DAC devices to

operate up to +/-10V.

The VMOD-3U is supported with driver software for VxWorks, PSOS+, OS-9, LynxOS and

UNIX/RealTime UNIX operating systems.

VMOD-IO2

VME64 Carrier board for MODULbus mezzanine I/O

The VMOD-IO2 is a VMEbus compatible carrier board for up to four add-on mezzanine modules with

MODULbus interface. With the VMOD-IO2, the system integrator is able to build single-slot I/O

solutions for industrial needs.

 

The VMOD-IO2 gains it’ s high flexibility from the high number of available MODULbus solutions,

ranging from simple digital or analog I/O to intelligent modules (i.e. field bus interfaces). Customer

specific modules can easily be designed, as the MODULbus is a simple and openly published

standard. Even if the carrier board is equipped with four modules, only one slot in the VME-system is

needed.

The VMOD-IO2 is prepared to work as MODULbus+ platform. MODULbus+ is an improvement of the

known MODULbus standard. Features such as module identification, expanded address range and

inter-module communication signals are supported by this standard. Existing MODULbus modules are

usable on the MODULbus+ slots of the VMOD-IO2.

The core logic of the VMOD-IO2 has been designed into a FPGA. Updates and technical

improvements can be done by reprogramming the FPGA. The configuration software can be loaded

from a VMEbus CPU into the VMOD-IO2. Therefore it is important to know the version number of the

configuration software to draw conclusions to the specifications.
