The AIO module is an intelligent analogue

I/O interface module that can be located

in the Coach Computer or distributed

within the coach. The module has its own

8-bit embedded processor and a Vehicle

Bus interface.

The module’s 4 analogue input channels

are separated into two groups, and the

optional output channels form a third

group. Each group provides its own voltage

and return signals for external I/O

circuits.

The module’s embedded microprocessor

controls the inputs and outputs. Each input

channel has parameters for calibration

(factory set). For the Coach Computer

the module has an SDLC-type Vehicle

Bus interface.

Properties and Interfaces

Analogue inputs. The type of the analogue inputs is current loop (4...20 mA).The inputs do not need to be calibrated by the user, as all channels are factorycalibrated.

The resolution of the input A/D conversion is 12 bits, and the cut-off frequency of the hard-ware low pass filter is 100 Hz. The board’s software runs average type filtering, the typical length of which is 16 samples at a sample rate of 40 ms, thus providing a cut-off frequency of approximately 1 Hz.

Analogue outputs. The type of the analogue outputs is current loop (4...20mA).

The resolution of the output A/D conversion is 12 bits.

Self diagnostics. The module has normal power-on self-tests for memories.

I/O indicators. The AIO module has LED bar indicators for input and output channel levels.

I/O connections. The module has two configurations, one configuration for I/O connections at rear and the other for I/O connections at front. Both configurations have a similar I/O functionality, but the front configuration doesn’t have the module status indicator or I/O indicator LEDs.
